AKAI HABITAT

Akai Habitat is my first live set built around an Akai-centred performance ecosystem.

MPC Live III works as the drum machine, bass machine, synthesizer, piano voice and central sequencer. APC64 controls Ableton Live and turns a Native Instruments FORM preset into a playable voice. MIDImix becomes the live mixer and effects surface. Three Native Instruments Reaktor Blocks channels add the more percussive and industrial undercurrent.

Building the set required two parallel preparations: creating a live architecture inside MPC Live III and designing sounds and instrument presets that could retain their character while being changed in real time.

The musical world is darker and deliberately less orderly. Industrial textures, recurring arpeggios and traces of 90s synthesizer music meet the more organic piano voices of MPC Live III. At 128 BPM, the performance moves through a D-centred minor field with hypnotic progressive motion, minimal deep-tech restraint and moments of harder electronic pressure.

The aim is not perfect order. It is to build a habitat where different musical behaviours can remain alive, playable and able to change together.
